Understanding the Interface
Game List
The main game list shows all available and recent games:
- Available Games: Games waiting for opponents (you can join these)
- In Progress: Games currently being played
- Completed: Recent finished games
Your Games
Toggle to see only games you've created or participated in.
Bet Amount
- Use the input field for custom amounts
- Quick-select buttons for common bet sizes (0.1, 0.5, 1, 5 SOL, etc.)
- Balance display shows your available funds
Winnings Calculation
The winner takes the entire pot minus the house edge:
Winnings = (Your Bet + Opponent's Bet) × (1 - House Edge)
Winnings = (Your Bet + Opponent's Bet) × 0.96
Example:
- You bet 1 SOL on Green
- Opponent bets 1 SOL on Blue
- Total pot: 2 SOL
- Winner receives: 2 × 0.96 = 1.92 SOL
- Net profit: 0.92 SOL
Provably Fair
Every Coin Flip uses Random.org for external, verifiable randomness:
How It Works
- Ticket Request: When a game is created, we request a ticket ID from Random.org
- Signed String: Random.org generates a cryptographically signed random string
- Winner Selection: The signed string determines the winner through our algorithm
- Verification: Random.org's signature can be independently verified
Why Random.org?
- External Randomness: Random numbers come from a trusted third party, not our servers
- Cryptographic Signatures: Every random value is signed and verifiable
- Audit Trail: Random.org maintains records for independent auditing
- Industry Standard: Used by lotteries, scientific research, and gaming worldwide

Verification
After a game:
- Click on the completed game
- View the game details including the signed string
- The Random.org ticket and signature are recorded
- Verify using the formula:
// Winner selection from Random.org signed string
const hash = sha256(signedString);
const randomValue = parseInt(hash.substring(0, 16), 16);
const winner = randomValue % totalWeight;
Strategies & Tips
- Start Small: Get comfortable with the game before betting large amounts
- Watch First: Observe a few games to understand the flow
- Manage Bankroll: Never bet more than 5-10% of your balance on a single flip
General Tips
- No Strategy Beats 50/50: Each flip is independent — past results don't affect future outcomes
- House Edge Matters: Over time, the 4% house edge means the house has an advantage
- Play for Fun: Coin Flip is designed for entertainment, not guaranteed profits
- Set Limits: Decide on a budget before you start playing
Game Rules
- Matching Bets: When joining a game, you bet the same amount as the creator
- Automatic Side Selection: Joining a game automatically places you on the opposite side
- No Cancellation: Once a game is created, it cannot be cancelled (it stays open until joined)
- Instant Settlement: Winnings are credited immediately after the flip
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel a game I created?
Games cannot be cancelled once created. They remain available until another player joins.
What happens if no one joins my game?
Your game remains open indefinitely until someone joins. You can create multiple games if desired.
Is there a maximum bet?
There's no hard maximum, but very large bets may take longer to find opponents.
Can I play against friends?
Yes! Share the direct link to your game with friends so they can join your specific flip.
Why did I lose when I had a "winning streak"?
Each coin flip is independent. Previous results have no effect on future outcomes — this is known as the "gambler's fallacy."
